‘Magic’ Making Moves On Inner City Broadcasting

According to published reports, basketball Hall of Famer, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, is quietly making moves that could result in acquiring controlling interest in Inner City Broadcasting Corp. and its flagship radio stations in New York, WBLS-FM and WLIB-AM. Thedeal.com reported that ICBC’s debt of over $230 million currently held by Goldman Sachs and GE Capital will be changing hands to Magic Johnson Enterprises and Ron Burkle‘s Yucaipa Companies. Vaughn Harper and Friends in Harlem

Legendary radio personality Vaughn Harper and a host of friends traveled uptown for a special celebrity toy drive benefitting Harlem Dowling West Side Center for Children and Family Service.  The event, which took place at Gospel Uptown, was hosted by WBLS-FM’s own Dr. Bob Lee, collected a wealth of donated toys and gift items for the numerous children and family members Harlem Dowling Service.  Continue reading →

‘The Harlem Miles’ Healthy Run

bobleerowewrightOn Sunday, November 2, The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce and the New York Road Runners joined forces to expand on “The Harlem Miles.”  The exciting roadway journey which kicked off at 135th Street treading down 5th Avenue to 117th Street offered marathon participants and cheering patrons an exciting opportunity to experience Harlem’s cultural diversity at its best as it featured live musical performances and entertainment during the annual ING New York City Marathon.  Continue reading →
