face slash in harlem1An 18-year-old man hoping to buy a pair of sneakers wound up slashed and robbed Sunday afternoon, NYPD police said.

The victim met with his attacker at about 5:45 p.m., on Central Park North and Lenox Ave. The encounter soon turned bloody — the suspect sliced the teen’s left cheek and forehead, took $50 and ran off, according to cops.

Emergency personnel took him to Mt. Sinai Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, FDNY officials said.

Police were searching for a black man, about 5-foot-four, wearing a red-and-blue cap, who fled north. Cops couldn’t say Sunday if the slashing was linked to a robbery inside Central Park at 7:20 p.m NYDaily News reported.

In that case, a mugger grabbed a 28-year-old man from behind on East Drive by 108th St., putting him into a chokehold, then robbed him of $20, police sources said.

Cops described the suspect in that case as a black man in his 20s, about 5-foot-6, wearing a red shirt and blue jeans, according to sources.

The victim refused medical assistance, sources said.
