The ’12 O’Clock Boys’, Glorification Or Documentation? (video)

December 13, 2013

13370-1First the Hell’s Angels and now the 12 O’Clock Boys. Oscilloscope Laboratories presents for first-time filmmaker Lotfy Nathan’s documentary 12 O’Clock Boys, an electric, beautifully made look at a youth in Baltimore who wants nothing more than to join the city’s most notorious urban dirt bike crew. It’s an intimate look at a Baltimore teenager, filled with thrilling ride-along footage – the most fascinating look into Baltimore’s inner-life since The Wire; the film premiered at this year’s SXSW Film Festival, won the Emerging Artist Award at Hot Docs, and was chosen by the Sundance Film Festival for the inaugural “NEXT Weekend” festival in LA this year.

The film will come out in theaters on January 31, 2014.

Here’s  the video:

Harlem has it’s own 12 O’Clock Boys, every summer with schools closed, and “nothing to do” young men ride their motorcycles up-and-down the streets of Harlem during the summer, much like these young men in Baltimore.

So, what do you think, is it Glorification or Documentation or exploitation?
