The Female Focused Festival Athena Film Festival 2014

Gugu Mbatha-Raw as “Dido Elizabeth Belle” and Sam Reid as “John Davinier” in BELLEAre you ready, the Athena Film Festival, is coming up this Feb 6 – 9th at Barnard College in (117th & Broadway), West Harlem, New York.

The female focused festival is a celebration of women and leadership and has really progressed over the years.  The festival was co-founded by Kathryn Kolbert (Constance Hess Williams Director of the Athena Center) and Melissa Silverstein (founder of Women and Hollywood).

The following women will be honored this year at the festival:

Sherry Lansing (Former Chair & CEO of Paramount Pictures and former President of 20th Century Fox)

Callie Khouri (Academy Award winning screenwriter of Thelma and Louise, and creator of the series Nashville)

Kasi Lemmons (Actress, director and writer of Black Nativity, Talk to MeEve’s Bayou and The Caveman’s Valentine)

Keri Putnam (Executive Director of the Sundance Institute)
