The Mount Sinai Hospital Goes Red

Mount Sinai HeartHeart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States and it affects one in three women. Mount Sinai Heart at The Mount Sinai Hospital hosted its annual Community Heart Health Fair on Friday, February 7 marking the 10th anniversary of the American Heart Association’s National Go Red Day.

Women of Mount Sinai HeartThe free Community Heart Health Fair at Mount Sinai, one of the largest Go Red Day events for the last eleven years in New York City, offered free heart health screenings for blood pressure, total cholesterol including good and bad cholesterol level, triglyceride level, glucose level and body mass index. Also, education and demonstrations on nutrition and diet, diabetes, CPR, stress management, smoking cessation, yoga and other relaxation techniques took place. In addition, free heart healthy food tastings were prepared by Mount Sinai Hospital chefs, and guests received free giveaways, a goodie-bag, and raffle entry upon completion of their heart health screenings.
