A number of horse drawn carriages stand on Broadway in front of awning covered store fronts and we think a blank undeveloped lot stand to the right of the photograph. This rare photograph of the six story red brick building was built by architects Thain and Thain documents Harlem’s  economic boom starting in 1860’s and the before the Harlem’s renaissance in the 1930’s.
