Town Hall Meeting To Protect Healthcare And Public Hospitals In Harlem

Members of the  New York State Nurses Association, the National Action Network, NAACP,  the Commission on the Public’s Health System, Community Voices Heard, Doctors Council/SEIU, New York Immigration Coalition and CWA 1180 will join the Harlem community  to speak out against threatened cuts to our healthcare, and call for adequate funding for New York City’s public hospitals.

New York has the largest public hospital system in the country and it is absolutely vital to the healthcare system of the entire city.  Its vital role, efficiency and high quality are highlighted in a new report, “On Restructuring the NYC Health+Hospitals Corporation,” authored by two leading health policy experts.   The health of the public hospital system is also essential for the survival of New York’s private hospital system, which is able to avoid many services and patients that are not profitable because the public hospitals are there to assume these roles.  The report details these issues and others that will be discussed on Friday evening.
