Two Hospitalized After Livery Cab Involved In Three-car Crash In Harlem

August 11, 2016

article-crash-in harlemAn out-of-control livery cab vaulted a curb and nearly slammed into a Harlem building early Thursday after getting into a three-car crash, injuring three people, officials said.

The cab jumped the sidewalk in front of the Madison Plaza, a nine-story luxury condo building on the corner of Madison Ave. and E. 119th St., about 6 a.m. — stopping just inches from the door, stunned witnesses said.

The cab, crushed from colliding with the other vehicles, came to rest blocking the building’s front entrance.

“The cab almost ran into the building,” said super Alex Preda. “A pedestrian was laying on the floor. The cab driver was pretty messed up. He had blood on him and his shirt. They had to cut the (car) door out to get him.”

First responders took two victims in serious but stable condition to Harlem Hospital. A third victim with a minor injury was treated at the scene.

The building was left unscathed — save for a smashed potted plant.

NYPD Cops were investigating what sparked the crash, but Preda said accidents at the intersection are common.

“Some people don’t see the light and blow it,” he said.
