Uptown’s Rodriguez Statement On Court Decision Granting Stay Of Deportation To Ravi Ragbir

February 9, 2018

Uptown’s NYC Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez issued the following statement on today’s court decision granting a stay of deportation to Ravi Ragbir.

The stay allows briefing and consideration of the lawsuit filed against the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice, alleging Ragbir was targeted because of his activism.

“News of Ravi’s extended stay in this country is not only a reason to celebrate, but proof that our work here is not done. May this encourage us to keep showing up for Ravi and the millions of hard-working immigrants in this country at risk of deportation.

“New York is better because of Ravi and how he has used his platform to highlight the injustices committed against immigrants like himself. This good news is not a signal for us to become complacent, but should be used as fuel to keep up the fight for Ravi and Amanda Morales-Guerra.”
