crime-tape-in-harlemNYPD are investigating the death of a 40-year-old woman whose body was found on the edge of the Harlem River in Inwood Saturday morning, officials said.

Her body was discovered fully clothed on the grassy banks of the river near W. 202nd St. about 8:15 a.m., officials said. Several beer bottles were found near her body, officials said.

The victim’s name was not immediately released. Local residents described her as a “neighborhood drunk” who would often lounge on the river banks, police sources said.

There were no apparent signs of foul play, officials said. An autopsy has been slated to determine how she died.
