Odyssey Media is a marketing & communications company founded by CEO Linda Spradley Dunn, focused on connecting and empowering influential and affluent multicultural women around the world. For the last 17 years, Odyssey’s unparalleled signature event “The Odyssey Business Retreat” (which has featured names like Vanessa Williams, Sheila Johnson and Ava DuVernay) and unique blend of business sessions, entrepreneur boot camps, digital forums, resources, and networking opportunities, have since built up a global movement thousands of women strong.

The “In The Black” Tour is focused on connecting women business owners, entrepreneurs, and professional women in transition with tools and discussions they truly value.

CEO Linda Spradley Dunn explains: “We strive to provide trusted spaces for women to connect, learn, and be inspired. With this tour, we’re spreading the word about Odyssey by inviting women in transition, small business owners, and entrepreneurs to network with their peers, learn from the best, and discover a whole new tier of community.”

According to The Cheskin Research Company “…women are leaving corporate jobs in favor of entrepreneurship at twice the rate of men, and multicultural women are departing even faster.”  Now, Odyssey is reaching out to support these women with the “In the Black” Tour, by providing powerful talks, business networking, and professional tools provided by Coca Cola and Life Reimagined. Coca-Cola has provided a business assessment and skill building tool called the “Supplier Training & Empowerment Program” [STEP] as part of their “5 by 20” initiative, and Life Reimagined has provided their “LifeMap” tool, designed to help women business owners pivot through life’s transitions, and map out a meaningful path to their goals.

Each tour stop will include presentations by noted experts in the business and lifestyle industries. Odyssey Media founder Linda Spradley Dunn and Executive Vice President Cheryl-Walker Robertson will welcome attendees to the event. Business coach Becky Davis will host a segment on finance for small businesses, and editor and fashion/beauty expert Mikki Taylor will host a segment about personal style and ‘the little black dress’.

The goal? To help women begin or enhance their journey by incorporating the necessary tools to succeed. Such tools include:  a black book (with a list of colleagues, family and friends), a black box (packed with the tools one will need to go to the next level), a little black dress (an LBD is a uniform that takes one from home to the office), a black bag (full of products that makes one feel confident) and a lot of black ink (a contract, personal financial portfolio and balance sheet).
