The Grants Harlem Wedding Story

Life imitates art for Eileen Smith and Robert Grant. The Murray Hill duo met in 2006 at Smith’s art show at the Dollar Internet Café. Nine months after their first date at Café Bonjour in Harlem, Grant proposed on Easter Sunday with his grandmother’s ring. Smith, a fine artist, and Grant, an artist, musician and art teacher in the Bronx, were married at the Convent of the Sacred Heart. One hundred guests joined the couple for their ceremony in the chapel, followed by a reception in the French ballroom.

Essentials

* First dance: Stevie Wonder’s “As”

* Memorable moment: “Holding back tears as we said our vows,” says Smith

* Something old: A monogrammed handkerchief belonging to the bride’s grandmother
