Empowerment Day: Why And Why Now…

Greetings,

The officially reported U.S. adult unemployment rate of 9.2% is really closer to 20% among African Americans and Latinos (30% among minority adolescents).

Between 2005 and 2009, the median wealth of whites fell by 16 percent.

Over the same period, the median wealth of Hispanic households fell by 66 percent, and that of African Americans fell by 53 percent.
