There are two new films at the box office depicting poor black teenagers trying to escape their gritty urban lives. But only one of them is drawing criticism from many members of the black community.
“Precious,” the critically acclaimed drama about an illiterate black teenage girl abused by her mother and pregnant with a second child by her father, has come under fire by a number of blacks, including Washington Post columnist Courtland Milloy and former Time magazine columnist Jack White.
Sherri Shepherd is HOT! And these days she’s certainly getting around a lot– For those of you who have seen the fabulous, if jolting movie Precious, yes that is her..right there in it with all the mayhem…even Oprah didn’t recognize her. You may know her from her being the co-host on “The View” every morning or as the wife of Tracy Morgan’s “30 Rock.” or how about in sitcoms like “Less Than Perfect.” But that was then. Miss Thing has her very own sitcom now on Lifetime. It’s called ”Sherri,” Sherri baby…Sherriiiiee…wow,wow wow. And if you think she done…think again…Cut! I am exhausted. See you at the signing.
