The Thurgood Marshall College Fund held its 4th Annual Front Row fashion show October 25th at the Roseland Ballroom.  This year The View’s Sherri Shepherd held down  the hosting  duties.  Sherri lit up the room as soon as she stepped on the red carpet.  Also, in the building participating in the award ceremony was Thurgood Marshall’s son Jonathan Marshall.

More than 650 HBCU students attended the 4th Annual Front Row fashion show, and with the rest of the guests were excited about seeing this year’s honorees. Rounding out this year’s impressive group of people were Michael Jackson (represented by Marlon Jackson)- 2009 Avant-Garde Award,  F.I.T. President Dr. Joyce Brown-2009 Fashion Icon Award,  Supermodel Naomi Campbell-2009 Fashion Icon Award, Celebrity Make-Up Artist Sam Fine-2009 Fashion Icon Award and Celebrity Hair Stylist Andre Walker-2009 Fashion Icon Award.

Once the last honoree received his award, the fashion show was ready to go.  But first the musical duo Nuttin’ But Stringz, provided an unbelievable musical interlude.  These two brothers from Queens New York are remarkable violin players.  For those in the audience who missed Nuttin’ But Stringz recent appearances, on the Tavis Smiley Show and the Monique Show, was in awe.  After completing their performance, they received a standing ovation.

DJ Clark Kent cued up the music and the fashions were coming down the runway.  The 4th Annual Front Row fashion show featured designs by Amsale Aberra, Ana Segura, Byron Lars, Angela Dean, Frances Hendy, Kai Milla, Paco Rogiene, Montgomery, Nico & Adrian, Russell Simmons and George Davies (Walmart).

All of the fashions were received well by the audience, but the Montgomery line definitely stood out from the pack.  When the Fela Kuti music began playing you can see people had edged up in their seats. After designer, Montgomery Harris, walked down the runway the audience was on their feet.

It was another great night for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, and all of the students the organization impacts.

Michelle Obama opened up her long-awaited cohosting day on “The View” with fist bumps to all the ladies. Poking fun at the “terrorist fist jab” remark a Fox News correspondent made after her infamous fist bump with her husband, Michelle said after sitting, “I have to be greeted properly. Fist bump please.”
