Café Mocha Radio Saluted Harlem’s Harriett Cole, Jo-Ann & Aliyyah Baylor And More

mocha7On October 13th over 150 attendees gathered at MIST Harlem for the Café Mocha radio show’s 5th annual Salute Her Beauty of Diversity Awards presented by Toyota. mocha2mocha1Hosted by Café Mocha’s Loni Love, YoYo and WBLS’ Déjà vu the evening was a memorable celebration of sisterhood.  Built on the concept of women helping women grow through shared experiences, the event supported FACES NY Inc. and Can’t Be Silenced in partnership with the Mocha Cares Foundation.

mocha3mocha4mocha6The evening kicked off with a pre-cocktail ORS Hair Care #NoStereotypes panel discussion that featured candid and enlightening conversation with life stylist/coach Harriette Cole, financial educator Tiffany ‘The Budgetnista’ Aliche and aviation industry entrepreneur Corliss Stone-Littles (owner of 60 shops in airports across 14 jurisdictions in the country).

mocha5The panel discussion set the tone for an empowering evening with nine outstanding women accepting their  Salute Her Award: Harriette Cole, Woman of Style Award presented by Teen Vogue Editor Elaine Welteroth; Tiffany ‘The Budgetnista’ Aliche, Mocha Maven Award; Chung Seto, Political Consultant, Champion for Change Award; Jo-Ann & Aliyyah Baylor, Owners of Make My Cake, Family Legacy Award; Corliss Stone-Littles, Founder/CEO of CSL, LLC, Business Legacy Award; Monique Carswell, Director of Sustainability & CSR at NBCUniversal, Toyota Green Initiative Award; Dwana Smallwood, Founder of Dwana Smallwood Performing Arts Center,Champion for Children Award; and Debra Fraser-Howze, SVP of Government & External Affairs at OraSure Technologies, Inc., Community Activist Award presented by community activist Maria Davis.

Evening concluded with an Afterglow celebration featuring Make My Cake.

Guests included former NYC Comptroller John Lui, Leah Wilcox,  Lance Owens, Sr., Terrie Williams,  Lloyd Williams, Skip Dillard (WBLS) and Tanya Wright. Past honorees Irene Gandy, Audrey Bernard.

Thanks to sponsors Toyota, ORS and Chandon guest departed with Green inspired Swag bags that included Toyota Green cutting boards, ORS natural hair samples, Harriette Cole 108 stitches: words we live by book, and handmade Soy candles from Lomar Farms just a few of the specialty items.
