A Harlem senior citizen gave Mayor de Blasio an earful during a town hall meeting Wednesday night, screaming at the top of her lungs for him to provide “service now” and finally fix the neighborhood’s rickety infrastructure.

Sporting sunglasses and a glitzy black-and-gold baseball cap, Catherine Nixon strolled up to de Blasio with her walker and stole the show at a town hall session held at the Police Athletic League Harlem Center in East Harlem.

She complained about cracked and bumpy sidewalks that regularly draw “pools of water” and make it difficult for her to navigate. She also drew laughter and applause when she claimed to have “worn out three or four walkers” trying to cross local streets before the street signals turn red and demanded more bus shelters in her neighborhood – but not the “other shelter[s].”
After de Blasio laughed and tried to calm her down, she shot back with a vengeance, causing Hizzoner to look on helplessly while scratching his head.
“Listen, are there no inspectors?!” she shouted. “They should come out and find out. And some of these sidewalks are so broken up they need to be repaired.
“I want some service for the people of this city! I want service for everybody! We need service now!”
A stunned de Blasio thanked Nixon for her remarks and joked, “sidewalks, I liked that. Sidewalks for everybody.”
Nixon apparently wasn’t impressed.

As the mayor walked away to take another question from someone else and promised to have City Hall “follow up” on her complaints, the senior could still be heard screaming and continuing to demand better municipal services.
